유학(D-2) 체류기간 연장 준비

(교육기관) 「고등교육법」 및 특별법에 따라 설립된 전문대학 이상의 교육기관이나 학술 연구기관으로서 법무부장관이 정하는 요건을 갖춘 대학 또는 부설 어학원이 대상이에요.(Institutions) Junior colleges and above, or academic research institutes, established under the Higher Education Act or special acts, that meet the requirements set by the Minister of Justice — including their affiliated language institutes.

(제외) 다음 대상은 유학 체류자격 대상 교육기관에서 제외돼요.(Excluded) The following are not recognised as institutions for student status.

(원격대학) 「고등교육법」 제2조제5호에 따른 방송대학·통신대학·방송통신대학 및 사이버대학(이하 ‘원격대학’)(Distance universities) Broadcasting, correspondence and cyber universities under Article 2(5) of the Higher Education Act (“distance universities”)

(평생교육기관) 「평생교육법」 제2조제2호에 따른 평생교육기관(Lifelong education institutions) Institutions under Article 2(2) of the Lifelong Education Act

(기능대학 중 직업훈련과정) 「국민 평생 직업능력 개발법」 제2조제5호에 따른 기능대학 중 ‘직업훈련과정’(Vocational training courses at polytechnics) ‘Vocational training courses’ at polytechnics under Article 2(5) of the Lifelong Vocational Skills Development Act

(야간대학·대학원) 유학자격을 허용하는 일부 야간 학위과정을 제외한 야간대학 및 대학원(Evening universities and graduate schools) Evening universities and graduate schools, except certain evening degree courses for which student status is allowed

주간 교육과정이 없는 야간대학원, 전문대학 전공심화 야간과정으로서 관할 출입국관서의 야간 학위과정 사전심사를 거친 교육과정은 예외예요.Exceptions are evening graduate schools with no daytime programme, and evening advanced-major courses at junior colleges, where the course has passed prior screening by the competent immigration office.

(외국인 유학생) 위 교육기관에서 정규과정의 교육을 받거나 특정 연구를 하려는 외국인으로서 유학(D-2) 및 어학연수(D-4-1, D-4-7)가 해당돼요.(Foreign students) Foreign nationals who take a regular course or conduct specific research at the institutions above — student (D-2) and language training (D-4-1, D-4-7).

1회에 부여할 수 있는 체류기간 상한은 2년이에요.The maximum period of stay granted at one time is 2 years.

별도 허가 없이 유학활동이 가능한 체류자격 — 외교(A-1)~협정(A-3), 문화예술(D-1), 일반연수(D-4-2), 취재(D-5)~무역경영(D-9), 교수(E-1)~특정활동(E-7), 비전문취업(E-9), 선원취업(E-10), 방문동거(F-1)~결혼이민(F-6), 난민신청자(G-1-5), 인도적체류허가(G-1-6), 장기체류 아동(G-1-8, 13, 14), 방문취업(H-2) 자격 소지자와, 다른 체류자격 소지자 중 유학(D-2) 체류자격외 활동허가를 받은 사람이에요.Statuses that may study without separate permission — A-1 to A-3, D-1, D-4-2, D-5 to D-9, E-1 to E-7, E-9, E-10, F-1 to F-6, G-1-5, G-1-6, G-1-8/13/14, H-2, and holders of other statuses who have obtained permission for activities outside their status for study (D-2).

원래의 체류목적을 침해하지 않는 범위에서 유학활동을 하려는 경우에는 별도의 허가 절차 없이 가능해요.No separate permission is needed where the study does not conflict with the original purpose of stay.

어학연수가 가능한 체류자격은 합법 체류자면 체류자격을 가리지 않아요.Language training is open to any lawfully staying foreigner, regardless of status.

비전문취업(E-9), 선원취업(E-10), 난민신청자(G-1-5)는 별도 허가 없이 유학 활동을 할 수 있지만, 현재 체류기간이 끝난 뒤 유학활동을 사유로 유학(D-2) 자격으로 변경하는 것은 불가능해요. 출국한 뒤 사증(사증발급인정서)을 받아 입국해야 해요.Holders of E-9, E-10 and G-1-5 may study without separate permission, but they cannot change to student (D-2) status on the basis of that study after their current period of stay ends — they must depart and re-enter with a visa (or certificate of visa issuance).

관광취업(H-1) 자격은 학원 수강·어학연수 등 학업 활동은 허용되지만 유학(D-2) 활동에 해당하는 정규 학업 과정은 제한돼요. 단, 호주·대만·아일랜드·덴마크·캐나다·홍콩 국민은 협정상 허용되는 범위에서 별도 허가 없이 연수할 수 있어요(협정 내용의 범위를 넘는 경우에는 허가가 필요해요).Working-holiday (H-1) holders may attend academies and language training, but regular degree courses corresponding to student (D-2) activity are restricted. Nationals of Australia, Taiwan, Ireland, Denmark, Canada and Hong Kong may train without separate permission within the scope allowed by their agreements (permission is required beyond that scope).

호주는 한국어 이외 정규과정의 교육 이수 불가, 대만은 지역문화 이해 등을 위한 어학연수 및 세미나를 제외한 정규 과정의 교육 이수 불가, 아일랜드는 훈련 또는 학업과정 이수 불가(단, 한국어과정은 최대 6개월까지 등록 가능), 덴마크는 최대 6개월까지 훈련 또는 교육프로그램 이수 가능, 캐나다는 한국어 교육을 3개월의 범위 내에서 허용, 홍콩은 최장 6개월까지 1개 과정 단기연수 수강 가능해요.Australia — no regular courses other than Korean language; Taiwan — no regular courses except language training and seminars for understanding local culture; Ireland — no training or academic courses (Korean-language courses may be taken for up to 6 months); Denmark — training or education programmes for up to 6 months; Canada — Korean-language education within 3 months; Hong Kong — one short-term course for up to 6 months.

근무처의 변경·추가는 해당사항이 없어요.Change or addition of workplace does not apply.

영리목적이 아닌 문화예술(D-1), 유학(D-2), 일반연수(D-4) 자격 소지자의 소속기관 또는 단체 변경(명칭변경 포함)과 취재(D-5), 종교(D-6), 주재(D-7), 기업투자(D-8), 무역경영(D-9) 자격 소지자의 소속기관 또는 단체 명칭이 변경되는 경우에는 법 제35조의 외국인등록사항 변경신고로 처리해요(시행규칙 제49조의 2).For non-profit D-1, D-2 and D-4 holders, a change of affiliated institution or organisation (including a name change), and for D-5 to D-9 holders, a change in the name of the affiliated institution, is handled as a report of change to alien registration details under Article 35 of the Act (Enforcement Rule Article 49-2).

체류자격 부여는 해당사항이 없어요.Grant of status of stay does not apply.
